June has well and truly started and it seems this is not going to be a quiet month. We have so much going on that I don´t really know where to start.
As many of you have so kindly enquired about the current state of affairs with my treatment, let´s start with last week´s evaluation. I met with my oncologist last Thursday and based upon the most recent scans we decided to stop the current treatment as most seems to have stabilized for now. So no more weekly blood tests, no more weekly chemo, no more weekly awesome sandwiches up at the cancer ward at Lillehammer hospital.
To hopefully make sure it will continue to go well during the summer, I will start with new medicines tomorrow. When all goes well, like no fever, no sores, no infections over the next week or so, we´ll do the whole scan routine sometime in August to see where we are at and discuss further action from there.
I am happy with this outcome and keeping my fingers crossed for a positive continuation of the treatment.
Something completely different: Mik is in his second to last week at barneskole here at Solvang. Not so much learning is done these days, I have to say. Preparation for next week´s official farewell with them recording the play they otherwise (in case of no Covid-19) would have performed in the big auditorium. If the government announces this coming Monday that it is OK for gatherings of up to 200 people, we will meet in the gymnasium next week with all the parents and students to watch their film and to have a picknick.
Next year Mik is off to the 3-year ungdomsskole, also in Øyer: right across from his current school. Mik can´t wait. Well, that is to say: first things first, next Friday marks the start of the summer holiday!
And yes, we have already made plans for at least the first week of our holiday. We will be off on our postponed road trip to the Netherlands! Yes, we will be in the Netherlands for the last week of June and believe you me, we have a pretty busy schedule. So please do not be offended or disappointed or mad when we don´t come to visit you. That does not mean that we don´t appreciate or love you, because we do. But there is only so many hours in a day and we can only make so many appearances here there and everywhere in Holland whilst we are there.
Ah. Gwyneth. Yes, she did make me cry. This weekend, Mik and I watched Avengers: Endgame. That is the one where Ironman dies. Enter Gwyneth. Ironman´s love of his life is with him in his dying moments and that´s where she tells him it is ok to let go as "they will be alright, they will manage". She continues to say "please you can go and rest now". And that´s where I lost it as those where the exact words I used when Marco and me where together last. I mean like really the exact words. So yeah, she made me cry.
And I like the Spiderman movies much better. Sorry Gwyneth, not a fan. I totally think Tom Holland is the best Spiderman ever.
